Ulrika Frank
Flamenco
Ulrika Frank studied dance in her native Sweden at the University College of Dance in Stockholm, where she graduated with a BFA in flamenco, jazz and modern dance. Several scholarships took Ulrika to Spain, where she started her flamenco dance studies with famous flamenco artists, such as Manolete, Carmen Cortes and Cristóbal Reyes. Her following teachers have been Andrés Marín, Mercedes Amaya, Israel Galván, and Mercedez Ruíz, to mention a few.
Ulrika performed and taught throughout Europe before moving to Atlanta, GA, in 1999. Ulrika was teaching flamenco dance at the Emory University Dance Program, Atlanta Ballet Center for Dance Education and at Casita Flamenca, her own dance studio. She was performing with various artists in the Atlanta area and founded Perla Flamenca Dance Company in 2001, which she directed successfully until she moved to Washington DC in August 2004. Ulrika is starting another flamenco company in DC in the fall of 2005, and is currently teaching flamenco dance at DC Dance Collective and Joy of Motion Dance Center.
