This course introduces young students to the basic foundations of hip-hop dance. Aside from choreography, students will learn rhythm, musicality - the concept of listening to the music and matching one's movement to it - and confidence through individual performance. The course is paced to include all skill-levels. The instructor will provide an inviting atmosphere to cut loose, have fun, and be yourself.

This class will focus on contemporary hip-hop dance styles. The experience is highly personalized, with the instructor challenging students to step up to surpass their own expectations. Both students and parents will begin to really impress themselves with how quickly they improve. Performance ability, musicality, conditioning, and learning learning of choreography skills are all strengthened. Also students can expect to appreciate hip-hop music and understand the context of the movement throughout the interesting history of hip-hop dance.

Students of all ages can begin to grasp the basis of hip-hop dance, with a focus on learning choreography, broadening dance vocabulary, and strengthening musicality and performance of dance. Students steadily experience a growth in character, push toward greater confidence, and find one's own elusive concept of the "groove." Look forward to a light-hearted, entertaining class with lots of laughter.

This class begins to experiment with new styles, including foundations of funk styles, new jack swing, current underground styles, and of course, a constantly evolving contemporary hip-hop. Along with more sophisticated steps, we will focus of bringing out personality in one's dance, as well as challenging the popular notion of what constitutes hip-hop dance. Learn from an instructor whose personal interest is in your growth as a dancer, in and out of the studio, and especially on stage.
