Ariel is a well-respected professional belly dancer in the Washington, DC metro area. She studies and performs Egyptian orientale, Turkish orientale, Turkish romani, and fusion belly dance styles, and has performed in clubs, restaurants, and on stages across the United States. She has studied with a number of master teachers from the United States and abroad, most prominently her mentors Artemis Mourat and Yasmin Henkish. In 2005, she was the founder and choreographer for the DC-based tribal fusion troupe Proserpina. From 2008 to 2010, she helped coordinate and organize the Turkish dance festival, Folktours. Her performances have been described as elegant, riveting, soulful, and avant-garde.
Ariel's classes focus on grounding a dancer in solid technique, with an emphasis on musicality and emotional expression.
She is also a certified RYT-200 hatha yoga instructor, drawing influence from the alignment-based Iyengar method and the strength and flow of the Ashtanga method.
