Esperonto Bean
Esperonto Bean has been a professional dancer and choreographer for over 10 years. He is well versed in many dance styles, including House, Hip-Hop and Punking. Mentored by the legendary Fluky Luke and the late Fred "ReRun" Berry of the famed group "The Lockers," Esperonto mastered the dance style Locking. His street credibility in the club scene led him to open for acclaimed artists such as Funk Master Flex, KRS1, Loon, Mix Master Mike, Dirty Vegas, CeCe Penniston, Barber Tucker, Robin S, and Mass Order. He also performed as special guest with Groov Mekanex Dance Crew for the internationally recognized Hip-Hop dance company Rennie Harris Pure Movement. He was a premiere performer and master class instructor for the White House Easter Egg Roll ‘09, Dance Place, Millennium Stage, NBC-4 Fitness Expo, The Hippodrome, Musician Minds Magazine, the Maryland Council for Dance and Theatre Project. He spent seven years as adjunct faculty at The Community College of Baltimore County. Esperonto is currently adjunct faculty at Howard Community College, where he teaches dance technique, as well as a lecture course in hip-hop culture. Hip Hop
Sunday 12:00 to 1:00 for Beginners
Sunday 1:00 to 2:00 for Advanced Beginners
Using everything from R&B, old school, pop, and today’s hip-hop, Esperonto has a very unique style which covers original elements of hip hop, such as locking, popping, and footwork. This class focuses on building technical skills, freestyle ability, and mastering hip-hop choreography. Students will be challenged to improve their coordination, musicality, and groove.
House (Beg/Adv Beg): Tuesday 6:30 to 7:30
Since the early 80’s in Chicago, House Dance has become one of the largest celebrated underground dance styles in the world. This dance style has created a spirit of free expression for dancers of all genres. Learn how to “Jack”, which is the foundation of House movement. Students will also learn intricate footwork, concepts for freestyle, choreography and the history of House Culture. House dance has influences in African, Afro-Carribean, Latin and Rhythm Tap. Come experience what makes this dance language to millions of people!
Punking/Waacking (Beg/Adv Beg): Tuesday 7:30 to 8:30
During the mid-70’s, this flamboyant dance style was pioneered in the underground club scene in Hollywood, CA. Sometimes referred to as Whacking, this dance was often performed to funk and disco, but has become popular with other styles of music, such as pop and 80’s. This style involves intricate rotations, extensions, and momentum of the arms around the head and body, with occasional poses. This energetic dance style is guaranteed to bring out the diva in every dancer!
