House

The House That Jack Built is not a fairytale. It is the House Music experience instructed and demonstrated through House Dance and cultural enlightenment.

Since it's origin in Chicago's underground dance scene in the early 1980's, House Dance has evolved into one of the largest dance forms in the world. Jack is a reference to Jacking; the dance recognized as the foundation of House Dance Culture. Jacking sparked the creative minds that would eventually engineer the movement influenced by many dance styles but a true descendant of none. This freedom has provided a spiritual home for those who wish to grow artistically and culturally in House Music.

Learn to Jack along with many other House Dance moves, how they are performed across four continents and discover why House Dance is winning the hearts and minds of dancers in formal and urban genres alike.

Join Junious "House" Brickhouse (The Assassins) and DC Dance Collective on this journey of expression and become a part of Washington DC's first House Dance course with instructions in history, movement vocabulary, and the many influences that live in The House That Jack Built.

Evolution:Competitive Dance/Performance Instruction

Evolution is a continuing education course in Urban Styles of Dance, teaching students how to apply the styles of Hip Hop freestyle and chorography, Popping, Locking, Bboying/Bgirling and House Dance in competitive environments.

Students, who want to learn how to compete, compose choreography, cypher and/or perform these dance styles would benefit from the instruction this class provides. By giving detailed instruction on cypher etiquette, preparing for competitions/battles, creating choreography for competitions, showcases and performances, Junious Brickhouse and Urban Artistry is focused on creating ambassadors of urban dance culture.

The program also addresses subjects such as how to compete artistically with respect to others and their culture, finding comfort/defying fear in solo, cypher, and battle situations, and transcending genres of dance. With multiple instructors and assistants available for each session, Urban Artistry is equipped to provide professional growth and guidance, for each dancer, at their individual level. Evolution - taking the dancer from the studio to the stage, to the cypher.
