Jessica Donley grew up in South Louisiana, a dynamic part of the African Diaspora. She has been dancing social dances such as Cajun, Zydeco, Hip Hop and the New Orleans Second Line since she could walk. Jessica has through the years taken ballet, modern and jazz technique class as ways to enter the professional dance world, however her passion remains for the more organic movement styles. She is keen on learning as many dance forms and rhythms of the African Diaspora in the Americas and if Africa. She spent two years in Esmeraldas, Ecuador (an Afro Ecuadorian community on the Pacific coast) learning to play the instruments and dance to the native music known for the sounds of the marimba.
With her cultural knowledge and dance talents Jessica has also choreographed several original works exploring ideas of the human experience. As Jessica grows as an artist and dancer, she is beginning create her own dance technique which incorporates all of her movement influences. She defines her style as organic, she compares her style to the color brown.
