Capoeira is an Afro-Brazilian martial art which was created by African slaves during 19th century. Capoeira is a diversified martial art that incorporates self-defense techniques, dance, a game and music. Carlos began training Capoeira at the age of 14 in Belo Horizante, Minas Gerias, Brazil. This class is for all levels. Class typically begins with a warm-up, stretching and strengthening exercises. Basic movements and skills will be taught and practiced through drills, sequences, cross floor exercises and in pairs. Students participate in a small roda (circle) at the end of each class. This is an opportunity to show all the movements, techniques and strategies they have learned.
