Orit Sherman
Modern
Orit Sherman who has devoted herself to dancing for 28 years and teaching for the past 14 years. As a native of Israel she began her dance training at a young age at Swhizer Dance Center, it is here that she had the opportunity to study with artists such as Amir Kolben, Nimrod Frid, and Rina Gluok. After earning her Bachelor’s of Dance Education (B.Ed.) at the Jerusalem ...Academy of Music and Dance, Orit began her career teaching dance and movement. She has continued her work for the past fourteen years both here in the USA and abroad in her native homeland of Israel. Since her arrival to the US, she has worked for City Dance Center in Bethesda, and has designed educational curriculum for children with dance as the core around literacy, science and language. Orit is the founder and artistic director of Ari-den Dance Company who made its Washington DC evening premier at the CHAW Theater in July 2010. Works have also been showcased at Dance Project DC 2009, Eureka Dance Festival 2009,Anatomy of a work o Art Takoma Park, The Dinner Party, New Releases Showcase at Dace Place and Dance New Amstertdam’s e.da.co in NYC. Orit is also and the co-founder of the Eureka Dance Festival held in Washington, DC. Orit believes that the creation of dance is a process of self-expression that she uses to convey a genuine and down to earth message. Orit credits her inspiration to the people closest to her especially her daughters and husband.
